Dr. Jason Pirga was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii.  He earned a dual Bachelors of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry from Pacific University in Oregon, and then returned home to earn his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Hawaii’s John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM).  Dr. Pirga then completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego, California, becoming board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in 2012.  

After completing his training with Scripps, he again returned home to work with the University of Hawaii’s Internal Medicine Residency Program as a Chief Medical Resident, where he taught medical students, interns, residents, and even international visiting physicians. 

Dr. Pirga currently works as a staff physician with the Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center in Waianae, Hawaii, where he teaches medical students as well as nurse practitioners in their residency training.  He is an Assistant Clinical Professor with JABSOM and Adjunct Professor with the AT Still University School of Osteopathic Medicine.  Dr. Pirga is a 2012 recipient of the Excellence in Teaching award from the University of California, San Diego’s School of Medicine, and is a member of the American College of Physicians.
